Eco Club Activity - Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam

The Sarayu Eco Club of SVM Higher Secondary Schoool successfully organized a special tree plantation drive "Ek Ped Ke Naam" on 11th July, 2026 to honor motherhood and foster environmental stewardship among students. This initiative was conducted under the aegis of the GEER (Gujarat Ecological Education and Research) Foundation An autonomous body established by the Forests and Environment Department of the Gujarat Government, the GEER Foundation is dedicated to promoting ecological conservation, environmental education, and research across the state. The heart of today's activity was the enthusiastic participation of 12 mothers of our students, who were specially invited to plant saplings on the school campus. To make the initiative both emotionally meaningful and educationally valuable, a unique tagging system was implemented. Each newly planted sapling was fitted with a customized tag displaying the plant's local name, its botanical name, the student's name, and the mother's name. The occasion was further graced by the presence of our Director, Shri Devang Thakore, and his wife. Mrs. Manisha Thakore. They led by example, actively participating in the plantation drive alongside the mothers and encouraging the school community's commitment to a greener future. The school extended a warm welcome to Dr. Rajesh Vyas, Professor of Botany at J.P. Arts and Science College, Bharuch His botanical expertise greatly enriched the event, as he generously volunteered his time to help carefully select appropriate plant species and accurately prepare the scientific and local name tags for each sapling.
